In the wedding industry there is a time of the year known as “wedding season”. This “wedding season” refers to the summer months when every bride and groom seems to be planning their special day.  There are benefits to planning your wedding in the “off-season” and steering clear of the summer months.

If you crave a cozy affair where you and your significant other are the bright spot in an otherwise chilly season, winter is your time. Your love can be the focal point, the joy, the bright spot.

One major plus to a winter wedding is scheduling. It is easier to get your choice of venue and you will get more one on one attention from your vendors since there work is generally slower in the winter months.  Not to mention, your family and friends won’t have to bump their personal vacation to attend your wedding. Everyone has a little more breathing room in the winter months.

Another plus to a winter wedding is that the floral options are unique and special. You can go with some fun hollies, holly berries, and pepper berries. These are such fun floral choices for a winter wedding! You can also get amazing Narcissus Paper Whites – they are so stunning.  Plus, you have the benefit of summer weather down in the Southern Hemisphere if you desire more traditional floral choices. Just because there is snow on the ground doesn’t mean there is a lack of floral.

The wonder of illumination in the winter is such a plus to a winter wedding.  The darkness outside can lead to stunning use of candles and fun illumination for your wedding. There is something magical about the stark contrast of darkness and light that comes with winter. You can use this to create an unbelieve feel in your event. Also, think about fireplaces and fire pits. The use of fire brings such warmth to your space and your event.

Your attire and accessories can come alive in winter, too. I love the idea of fun shawls and wraps. I also love the ideas of differing sleeve lengths and necklines. Even footwear can be more fun in winter – you could wear boots or UGGS. There are so many options with regard to your attire in the other seasons. In summer, you are more limited because your will overheat if you get too creative.  Not so in the winter months.  So much fun to be had in winter – you can take your style anywhere.

I even love the idea of winter foods and drinks at a wedding.  Think warm libations: hot toddies and cocoa drinks, robust, big red wines, warm ciders and even dry cavas. Your food choices can be hearty, rich and warm to go with the chilly season. Just thinking about it makes my heart full.

Winter weddings are magical affairs with so many pluses and so few minuses. Please contact me to get additional winter floral ideas. I am happy to help make your day perfection.
